Classroom Decor Ideas

It's always so exciting to get a classroom ready for the new school year. Whether you are a first year teacher or a veteran teacher; we can all agree choosing a theme can be both exciting and overwhelming. There are so many choices!

We love the look of a room that is harmonious where everything seems to flow together. Bulletin boards, birthday displays, inspirational posters...

After all, one of our goals is to create a space that is welcoming and exciting to learn in.

I've put together a few ideas to spark some interest.

BEFORE CHOOSING

Before you invest in any decor always consider these things:

  1. your students and space (size of room, physical restrictions, student's needs)

  2. your budget (Set a budget and stick to it!)

  3. what you will be teaching (grade level, curriculum)

  4. only buy or create purposeful and meaningful items

RETRO VIBES

Peace, love, and learning! A 70's inspired retro groovy theme is so on-trend right now. The color palette will create an engaging and welcoming atmosphere for your students.

NEUTRAL & CALM

If you're not a big fan of lots of color, then neutral decor is the way to go. You can easily add a pop of color if you want a little bit of color. Buy coral book bins, navy storage trays, red scoop seats, any pop of color will work with these muted tones.

COLORFUL

Not only is a colorful classroom beautiful, but colors can have an impact on student learning. Every color in a learning space can influence students' behavior and moods. Red, orange, and yellow have been shown to increase learners' attention while blue has been shown to increase reading comprehension.

ADVENTURE

Are you an outdoor enthusiast or do you enjoy traveling? Love learning about outer space? Maybe an adventure theme is for you.
